  • Featuring an 800 MHz NMR, EPR and Biacore SPR The 800 MHz NMR spectrometer (1394 Natural Sciences I) can detect proton, carbon and nitrogen signals and is equipped with hardware optimized for biomolecular applications. The Biacore 300 instrument (1304 Natural Sciences I) can measure docking interactions and binding affinity between biomolecules.

  • Established in 2015, IMRI was built on the previous Laboratory for Electron and X-ray Instrumentation (LEXI) and newly established transmission electron microscopy (TEM) facilities. Today, IMRI operates a large number of open-access user facilities for the characterization of inorganic, organic, and biological materials and devices ranging from sub-Å to macroscopic length scales - available to all university, industry, and non-profit researchers.

  • The Optical Biology Core (OBC) operates under the theme that technology enables discovery. Consequently, the goal of the OBC is to provide the best conventional microscopy platforms available and to develop and introduce novel optical methods that allow new discoveries to be made.

  • The facility incorporates a variety of pulsed and continuous wave laser systems. In general, our pulsed laser systems are tunable through the use of optical parametric oscillators. We also operate and maintain tools for Raman microscopy and conventional linear and non-linear spectroscopy applications. We offer assistance in data acquisition, analysis and discussion. Consultation services spanning the wide range of disciplines including linear and nonlinear spectroscopy, ultrafast phenomena and light-matter interactions. Circular Dichroism is also available in this facility.

  • The Laser Microbeam and Medical Program (LAMMP), is dedicated to the use of lasers and optics in Biology and Medicine. LAMMP is located within the Beckman Laser Institute and Medical Clinic, an interdisciplinary biomedical research, teaching, and clinical facility at the University of California, Irvine. LAMMP activities span from basic science and technology development to clinical translational research.

  • The Biostatistics Shared Resource (BSR) supports the conception, design, implementation, analysis and reporting of research conducted by members of the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. In addition, BSR faculty serve as liaisons to each of the cancer center’s Disease-Oriented Teams, keeping abreast of team developments and providing a first point of contact for assistance from the BSR with study design, data analysis, and new grant development.

  • The UCSD Screening Core provides infrastructure and consulting expertise for the development and implementation of screening assays in small, medium and high-throughput scale.

  • The MMSF at UC San Diego provide routine MS analysis on various types of samples including small organic molecules, peptides, natural products, organometallic compounds, intact proteins, polymers, oligonucleotides, antibodies, and antibody-drug conjugates.

  • Access to NMR technology for both UCSD and external users. Users can collect their own data, facility staff can do it all for you, or collaborative projects can be developed. The facility houses two 600 MHz Bruker Avance III spectrometers with cryogenically cooled probes for enhanced sensitivity. For samples whose concentration is limited by the amount of material available, or by solubility, our 1.7 mm microcoil cryoprobe requires just 40 μl of solution. We provide training in instrument operation and can offer advice for data analysis or project feasibility.

  • The UCLA MIC Mass Spectrometry Laboratory provides a wide range of sample characterization techniques for UCLA researchers. Ionization methods currently available include electron impact (EI), chemical (CI), matrix assisted laser desorption (MALDI), electrospray ionization (ESI), and atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI). Analyzers currently available include time of flight, quadrupole, ion trap, ion cyclotron resonance analyzers, and several tandem combinations of mass analyzers.
