  • The Mass Spectrometry Facility of the Department of Chemistry provides analytical services on a wide variety of mass spec platforms. Open Access is granted to registered users for many of these instruments. MS Facility Staff provide additional support and guidance for more complex methologies, instrumentation and data analysis.

  • The Optical Biology Core (OBC) operates under the theme that technology enables discovery. Consequently, the goal of the OBC is to provide the best conventional microscopy platforms available and to develop and introduce novel optical methods that allow new discoveries to be made.

  • The facility incorporates a variety of pulsed and continuous wave laser systems. In general, our pulsed laser systems are tunable through the use of optical parametric oscillators. We also operate and maintain tools for Raman microscopy and conventional linear and non-linear spectroscopy applications. We offer assistance in data acquisition, analysis and discussion. Consultation services spanning the wide range of disciplines including linear and nonlinear spectroscopy, ultrafast phenomena and light-matter interactions. Circular Dichroism is also available in this facility.

  • The Laboratory for Fluorescence Dynamics (LFD) is a national research resource center for biomedical fluorescence spectroscopy, supported by the National Center for Research Resources (NCRR, 5P41RR003155) and the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS, 8P41GM103540) divisions of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the University of California, Irvine (UCI). The founder and Principal Investigator of the LFD is Enrico Gratton. The Co-Investigator is Michelle Digman.

  • The Laser Microbeam and Medical Program (LAMMP), is dedicated to the use of lasers and optics in Biology and Medicine. LAMMP is located within the Beckman Laser Institute and Medical Clinic, an interdisciplinary biomedical research, teaching, and clinical facility at the University of California, Irvine. LAMMP activities span from basic science and technology development to clinical translational research.

  • Pathology Research Services Core Facility provides UC Irvine Health researchers with dependable and economical assistance in obtaining and analyzing human tissue, blood and serum samples. The core facility leverages the existing professional expertise and technical resources available in the facility Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine's various clinical laboratories.

  • The Transgenic Mouse Facility (TMF) facilitates the use of genetically modi¬fied mice in biological and biomedical research. An important goal of the TMF is to identify new technology and methodology that is likely to benefi¬t UC Irvine investigators using the mouse in their research programs and to import and provide such technology to UC Irvine investigators. The TMF makes investigators aware of new and existing developments via the TMF website, in seminars and lectures, via the UC Irvine MouseUsers email list and by word of mouth.

  • The mission of the UCI Genomics High-Throughput Facility (GHTF) is to provide genome-wide analysis for clients interested in gene expression, regulation of gene expression, and genome sequence and variation. The primary forms of genome-wide analysis are the Affymetrix GeneChip, Illumina HiSeq 2500 next generation sequencing and PacBio RS real-time single molecule sequencing . Through campus shared resources, services for other technologies include NanoString and Ion Torrent PGM.

  • The UCLA Pasarow Mass Spectrometry Laboratory is an intellectually vibrant group dedicated to the advancement of the science and training of students through innovative research and educational endeavors. As of January 2009 there are eight full-time members including two faculty, two senior technicians, two post docs, one Ph.D. students and one of undergraduate, in addition to numerous other UCLA faculty, staff and students who make frequent use of the facility and the in-house expertise. Our publication record is easily accessed via the web using Faull, KF and Whitelegge, JP as search descriptors. NSF and NIH Shared Instrument Grants over the past few years had led to the acquisition of several new instruments that complete the suite of available instrumentation. The availability of electron impact (EI), chemical (CI), atmospheric chemical ionization (APCI) and electrospray (ESI) ionization methods together in one facility is a feature of this Laboratory that is vital to the variety of chemical and biochemical research at UCLA. The Laboratory is also equipped a range of modern equipment necessary for the successful operation of a wet biochemical laboratory, including gas (capillary) and liquid chromatography (analytical, micro- and nano-bore) capability and gel electrophoresis.

  • The Molecular Screening Shared Resource (MSSR) offers a comprehensive range of leading-edge high throughput screening (HTS) services including drug discovery, chemical and functional genomics, and novel methods for nano and environmental toxicology. The MSSR is an open access environment with investigators from UCLA as well as from the entire globe. Industrial clients are equally welcome as are non-profit entities.
